Metabolism & Appetite

This section looks at products sold to support metabolism or reduce appetite and cravings. It includes reviews, best-of lists and explainers on ingredients such as glucomannan fiber, chromium, green tea and protein.

Claims about metabolism are easy to make and hard to prove. We check whether each ingredient is present at a dose that has been tested in people, how large any measured effect was, and whether the label is fully disclosed. Side effects, such as bloating from fiber, and the refund terms are part of every review.

Speak with your doctor before use if you have diabetes, a thyroid condition, take medication, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do metabolism boosters actually change how many calories you burn?

There is little evidence that metabolism supplements make a meaningful difference on their own. Ingredients like caffeine and green tea extract are common, but any effect is small, and stimulants can raise heart rate and cause jitters or poor sleep. Your weight, muscle mass, and activity shape metabolism far more. Check with a doctor if you have heart or blood pressure problems.
