Colon Cleanse & Detox
This section reviews colon cleanse and detox products and explains what the evidence does and does not show about detoxing.
Many cleanses rely on laxatives such as senna or cascara. We flag these clearly, check fiber and herb doses, and note risks like dehydration with long use. Refund policy and complaints are part of every review.
Ask your doctor before using a cleanse if you are pregnant, have a bowel or kidney condition, or take medication, since laxatives can affect how drugs are absorbed.
Do detox and colon cleanse products remove toxins from the body?
There is no compelling research that detox or cleanse programs remove toxins or improve health. Your liver and kidneys already do this work. NCCIH notes that some cleanse products can cause side effects, and the FTC has acted against companies making false detox claims. Colon cleansing can cause cramping, dehydration, and other problems. Be cautious.
