Prediabetes & Type 2

This section explains prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in simple terms. You will find guides on A1C and fasting glucose numbers, eating patterns, exercise and how supplements fit in, if at all.

We base these guides on public health sources and published research, and we avoid promises. When we discuss supplements we look at ingredient doses, the quality of the evidence and possible side effects, and we point out where the evidence is weak.

This content is for general information. Your diagnosis, targets and treatment plan should come from your doctor, especially if you take medication.

What is prediabetes and what helps lower the risk of type 2 diabetes?

Prediabetes means your blood sugar is higher than normal but not yet high enough to be called type 2 diabetes. Many people do not know they have it. Losing a modest amount of weight, eating well, and being more active can lower the risk of moving on to diabetes. A simple blood test from your doctor can tell you where you stand.
